Former U.S. official: China may exploit Iraq War to move against Taiwan

China is quietly taking steps to prepare for conflict with Taiwan while the United States is distracted by the war in Iraq, former Defense Department China official Kurt Campbell said last week. “China has recently promoted a handful of senior generals who have made their careers on war planning against Taiwan,” Campbell wrote. Senior Chinese strategists warn that Beijing is "ready to consider military options.”     (FULL STORY)
