White House seeks 'structural change' in China, but not until after the Olympics

The Bush administration is seeking “structural change” in communist China’s control over its society and not a loosening of restrictions on free expression during the Olympics, a White House official said last week. Dennis Wilder, the National Security Council staff Asia director, said President Bush will privately prod Hu Jintao on human rights. He also will speak briefly on the need for greater religious freedom in China. (FULL STORY)
