Cartwright, Willard favor new long-range 'nuclear-capable' bomber to deter China

Marine Corps Gen. James Cartwright, vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told a Senate hearing last week that the U.S. military will need to develop and deploy a new long-range bomber for possible use in a future conflict with China. Cartwright said that a new bomber would need to be both conventionally armed and nuclear capable. (FULL STORY)

Beijing airlifts security forces to Xinjiang for massive crackdown against Uighurs

While the situation in Xinjiang Autonomous Region (XAR) seems to have stabilized, the administration under President Hu Jintao is pushing ahead with an enhanced version of carrot-and-stick measures that Beijing has used in taming the restive region for the past decade.
