Outbreaks of social unrest growing in China despite economic gains
Social unrest and dislocation are growing problems within the world’s most populous country, according to a report by the Chinese government.
But not included in the report were widespread riots that broke out in the western region of Xinjiang, where some 200 people were killed in early July.
The report notes the growth of a deep resentment among China’s 1.3-billion population over the past several decades, mainly over unfairness and power abuse by government officials.
