PLA air force officer:
Non-militarization of space 'wishful thinking'

The Obama administration is seeking greater cooperation with China on space at the same time Beijing is moving toward greater militarization and weaponization of space — something it has publicly opposed. A PLA air force officer told the Liaowang Weekly, that China’s military is accelerating capabilities that shift from “the aviation pattern into the air-and-space integration pattern.” (FULL STORY)

Hu Jintao's hardliner appointments tighten Han Chinese grip on Tibet

President and Commander in Chief Hu Jintao has taken multi-pronged measures to boost control over Tibet as the door to negotiations with the aging Dalai Lama has apparently been closed. While more hard-line cadres are being appointed to run the restive territory, Beijing has also pledged unprecedented development aid for the estimated 6.5 million Tibetans who live in the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) as well as the neighboring provinces of Sichuan, Gansu and Qinghai.
