China: Test of space plane is U.S. 'security threat to
other countries'

Chinese state-run media recently criticized the U.S. military's testing of a space plane. China’s Liaowang, a weekly journal produced by the state-run Xinhua News Agency, reported May 19 on the testing of the U.S. X-37B space plane. It called the craft a “security threat to other countries,” namely China.

China is entering a new and ominous cycle of labor unrest

There's something new — and particularly disturbing — about the cycle of unrest plaguing Chinese factories since the spring: a new generation of workers has refused to abide by the exploitative terms of the "world's factory." At least 12 laborers in the Shenzhen branch of the Taiwan-owned Foxconn Technology Group, one of the world’s largest makers of cell phones and consumer electronics, have committed suicide since January because of abysmal working conditions. Honda plants in several Chinese cities have been hit by protests and strikes.
