Pentagon yields to China propaganda offensive on exercises in Korea

The Obama administration and the Pentagon have relented in the face of Chinese propaganda and will not dispatch the aircraft carrier strike group led by the USS George Washington to waters near China. Military sources said the carrier will take part in Sea of Japan maneuvers, on the eastern waters of the Korean Peninsula. (FULL STORY)

Hu Jintao curries favor with top generals, increases their role in diplomacy
President Hu Jintao has consolidated his hold over the People's Liberation Army (PLA) by elevating 11 senior officers to full generals. In return for the support of the top brass for leadership changes to take place at the 18th Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Congress in 2012, Hu has also given military personnel a bigger say in diplomacy, particularly policies toward the United States, Japan and Taiwan.
